Cocoon Relief

The product

The Cocoon

Fast protection when safe accommodation is out of reach.

Cocoon is a compact, insulated rapid-deployment unit designed to create a protected, private space for an individual, couple or parent and child — indoors, outdoors or within temporary accommodation settings.

It uses 50mm drop-stitch construction to form a waterproof, insulated shell across the floor, walls and roof, providing fast protection when safe shelter is unavailable, overwhelmed or out of reach.

Occupant experience

Close the door. Close the world out.

Once inside, the occupant is protected from wind, wet ground, cold surfaces and the constant exposure of open conditions. The insulated floor, walls and roof create a closed personal shelter where someone can get warm, sleep, keep belongings close, care for a child and recover enough to think clearly.

Wind kept out

Cocoon keeps wind out while maintaining airflow through its baffled vent system.

Low-light rest space

The closed shell creates a calmer, lower-light space for sleep and recovery.

Less exposed

The enclosed structure reduces surrounding disturbance and separates the occupant from the immediate environment.

Privacy restored

The occupant is no longer fully visible to the surrounding space.

Belongings kept close

Documents, phones, medication and personal items can remain inside with the occupant.

Construction

Engineered for demanding shelter environments.

Cocoon uses PVC with 50mm drop-stitch engineering — a strong, stable construction method that produces a defined, weatherproof and insulated shell.

PVC drop-stitch shell

The shell is built from PVC with 50mm drop-stitch engineering, producing a stable, structurally rigid form that holds its shape under load and in varied conditions.

Insulated 50mm drop-stitch floor

The floor uses 50mm drop-stitch engineering to provide a stable, insulated base with a firm, stable feel — separating the occupant from cold or hard surfaces.

Body-heat warming

Cocoon’s compact insulated volume is intentional. There is less internal air to warm, while the 50mm drop-stitch floor, walls and roof reduce heat loss on all sides. This allows occupant body heat to warm the internal space rapidly.

Integrated insulated floor

Cocoon does not depend on perfect ground. Its integrated 50mm drop-stitch floor creates a raised, insulated and stable internal surface, helping provide usable shelter on cold, damp, uneven or damaged ground.

Wind kept out

Once zipped closed, Cocoon keeps wind out while the protected hood, mesh layers and downward air path prevent a straight-through draught from reaching the occupant.

Waterproof exterior

Cocoon is designed for harsh outdoor conditions, with a waterproof protective shell and covered vent arrangements intended to minimise weather ingress. Deployment orientation and site positioning can be considered in severe wind-driven rain as part of normal setup guidance.

Three fixing rings per side

Three fixing rings down each side provide attachment points for floor, ground or surface fixing across indoor and outdoor deployments.

Padlock-securable zip closure

A heavy-duty zip closes the front door. The zip pulls can be secured with a padlock from inside or outside, depending on deployment procedures.

Three-vent ventilation

One high-level rear vent and one low-level vent on each side support airflow, oxygen supply, CO₂ management and condensation reduction.

Ventilation

A three-vent arrangement.

Cocoon uses a three-vent arrangement, with one high-level rear vent and low-level side vents, to support airflow, oxygen supply, CO₂ management and condensation reduction.

Vent placement

  • One high-level rear vent for warmer-air rise and exhaust
  • One low-level vent on each side for cooler-air intake
  • The three-vent arrangement is designed to support airflow while maintaining privacy and weather protection
  • Designed to support airflow, rest and condensation control across indoor and outdoor deployments.

Transport & storage

Soft wheeled transport case.

Each Cocoon is supplied in a purpose-designed soft wheeled transport and storage case — designed for easy handling, repeated deployment and compact storage between uses.

  • Soft wheeled storage/deployment case slightly larger than the folded Cocoon
  • Zip opening allows the Cocoon to be rolled out rather than lifted
  • Manual pump stored inside the case
  • Robust handles at each end for two-person carry when not being wheeled
  • Designed for repeated deployment, pack-down, storage and redeployment

Deployment

~10 minutes to deploy.

Each Cocoon can be deployed and manually inflated in approximately 10 minutes. Faster deployment is possible using an electric pump.

A manual pump is included with each Cocoon. The unit is also electric-pump compatible for higher-volume site deployments.

Cleaning

Wipe clean with soap and water.

Surfaces are designed to be wiped clean between occupancies with soap and water, supporting site turnover and routine inspection of seams, zips and fixings.

Units can be deflated, cleaned, packed and redeployed — a reusable contingency accommodation asset rather than a single-use measure.
